TRRS Commemorates Remembrance Day 2022

TRRS commemorated this year’s Remembrance Day on Friday 11 November 2022. In the days leading up to the ceremony, students across the school watched videos explaining the significance of Remembrance Day in the History of Ghana and the world over.

Our Prefects and Student Committees spearheaded a Poppy Drive; a week-long fundraiser for the Veterans Administration of Ghana (VAG), which raised GHC5,395. Thank you to our pupils, staff & families for your kind donations!

TRRS held a poignant ceremony on Friday 11 November with a minute’s silence impeccably observed at 11:00 am to remember our fallen heroes. We were honoured to welcome Squadron Leader Louisa Maame Efua Boakye, Officer Commanding Administration from Takoradi Airforce Base, Corporal Essilfie and Special Guest, Sergeant C. G. Amissah Yankson, a 95-year-old veteran who served in the Ghana Armed Forces during the British rule.

During his keynote address, Sergeant Yankson urged our pupils to do their best in everything they do and to always maintain a sense of integrity and self-discipline in life.

A special thank you to Ms. Gloria Awuku Boateng (Principal Teacher) for leading the coordination of our annual Remembrance Day celebration & to Mr. Gerard Boakye (TRRS PTA Executive) for his generous donation to the Poppy Drive and unwavering support of this programme over the years.

Lest We Forget!
