Pupils of The Roman Ridge School (TRRS) were invited to perform at the 2022 Lighting of the Christmas Tree at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel on the evening of Sunday 4 December 2022.

This event ushered in the Festive Season, with Her Excellency the First Lady, Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo, members of the Diplomatic Corps and invited guests in attendance.

Our medley of performances began with the TRRS Akwaaba Dancers performing the Kete Dance, an Akan Royal Court Dance. They were accompanied by the Abibigromma Troupe from University of Ghana School for Performing Arts.

Pupils from our Junior & Middle School expertly taught the audience how to extend and respond to Festive Greetings in various local dialects including: Ga, Ewe, Dagbani, Fante & Twi.

The TRRS Glee Club, a student singing group specialising in acapella covers, expertly harmonised original arrangements of popular Christmas Carols, Mary Did you Know & O Come All Ye Faithful, with an awe-inspiring solo performance of Oh Holy Night performed by Nicole Amira (TRRS Class of 2023).

To close, the TRRS Primary School Choir performed a medley of Ghanaian Festive Songs, followed by an impressive finale rendition of the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s Messiah, which received a standing ovation!

We are grateful to the Curator of this annual event, Mr. Julius Richardson, Mr. Manish Nambiar and the entire Kempinski Hotel Accra Team for the opportunity extended to our children to showcase their talent.

Congratulations to all Performers for an amazing show and thank you to our Parents for your unwavering support!

Special Kudos to our Music Teacher & Choir Master Mr. George Edzie & Mrs. Deborah Kotey (Principal Teacher & TRRS Teacher of the Year for 2022) and the entire TRRS Team for organising another impressive performance and always ensuring our pupils shine brightly!
