Tia Bhatia Earns Zonta International YWPA Award 2023

Zonta International, a leading global organization of dedicated professionals is committed to empowering women through service and advocacy. The Zonta International Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) Award was designed to honour young women aged 16 to 19, who exhibit exceptional leadership skills and an unwavering dedication to public service and civic causes. The award comprises a generous cash prize of US$ 5,000, given annually to young women whose commitment to volunteerism, outstanding leadership accomplishments, and dedication to empower women are regarded as exemplary.

Tia Bhatia, of Lower 6, and also the Middle School Prefect, emerged the winner of the Zonta YWPA Award 2023 for District 18. This district encompasses a wide geographic region, spanning across Ghana, Nigeria, Cote D’Ivoire, Sierra Leone, Senegal, Liberia, Burkina Faso, Togo, and Kenya. It is noteworthy that last year, Maisy Baer of the Class of 2022, too was a recipient of this prestigious award! Tia is passionate about community service. She is an avid member of The Ridge Readers Club, where she actively participates in literacy outreach initiatives both within our school and at Dzorwulu A & B Primary School. In 2022, she organized an art auction and single-handedly raise an impressive GHS 60,000 to fund a heart surgery for a child at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. Her achievements serve as a shining example of the change young women can bring to the world through their dedication and passion for service.

Fantastic achievement Tia!
