Tanefa Asem- 2023-2024 Harvard Book Prize Winner

Tanefa Asem (Lower 6 West student) has been honoured with the prestigious Harvard Book Prize for the 2023-2024 academic year. This esteemed award recognises outstanding students who demonstrate academic excellence, exceptional personal qualities, and impactful contributions to their school or community, as well as their insightful response to an essay prompt.
Tanefa’s winning essay delved into the detrimental effects of deepfake AI scams, emphasising the importance of technological literacy and vigilance in combating emerging threats in this digital age. As a generation deeply entrenched in technological advancements, Tanefa advocates for proactive measures to safeguard against such scams and stresses the need for comprehensive education on protective measures. Her thought-provoking essay earned her a personally inscribed copy of “The Harvard Book,” an anthology of essays by Harvard alumni spanning centuries.

 

Since its inception in 1910, the Harvard Book Prize has served as a beacon for attracting talented young individuals to Harvard University. Presented annually in over 1,900 secondary schools worldwide, this accolade holds significant prestige. TRRS has garnered a total of seven awards since its establishment in Ghana in 2018, the highest tally of any school in the country. Congratulations to Tanefa for exemplifying excellence and for her remarkable achievement in representing TRRS on the global stage. Her success reflects the school’s commitment to nurturing talent and fostering academic excellence.
