As part of World Environment Day 2022, Staff & Pupils of TRRS commemorated Green Ghana Day 2022 on Friday 10 June 2022 and once again received 1000 tree seedlings from the Forestry Commission, to whom we are extremely grateful. Seedlings were distributed to all members of the TRRS community for planting in their respective homes and communities.
The Green Ghana Day was launched in 2021, by the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo, as part of an aggressive national afforestation/reforestation programme to restore our nation’s depleted forest cover and to contribute to the global effort to mitigate climate change. The principal aims of the Green Ghana initiative are to:-
- Create and enhance national awareness of the necessity for collective action towards the restoration of the degraded landscape in the country.
- Inculcate the values of planting and nurturing trees and its associated benefits amongst the youth.
- Mitigate climate change.
- Enhance livelihoods for rural communities through their engagement in the production of tree seedlings.
- Beautify our communities and environment.
Let us all continue do our part to keep Ghana Green, and to preserve our planet!
