TRRS Commemorates Africa Industrialisation Day

Africa Industrialisation Day, observed on 20th November each year, is dedicated to harnessing the transformative power of technology and sustainability to drive the continent’s progress. With its rich human and natural resources, Africa stands at the cusp of a historic transformation, ready to leap into a future shaped by innovation and environmental responsibility.

To mark this significant day, TRRS organized a series of events that engaged the school community in understanding the importance of industrialisation for Africa’s growth. The commemoration kicked off on Wednesday 20th November 2024 during the morning assembly. Senior school students led the launch, raising awareness about the day’s significance and its relevance to Africa’s future.

On Tuesday 25 November, students participated in an educational activity where they watched a series of videos on Africa’s industrialisation in class with their form tutors. The session was followed by class discussions, allowing students to reflect on and share their observations about the potential and challenges of industrialising Africa.

The highlight of the commemoration came on Friday 29 November 2024, when Mr. Herbert Tettey, Operations Manager at Integrated Recycling and Compost Plant Ltd (IRECOP) Ghana delivered an insightful talk on the theme of “Green Industrialisation of Africa.” Mr. Tettey encouraged students to recommit to building a prosperous and sustainable Africa by embracing artificial intelligence (AI) and green technologies. He emphasised that these innovations could unlock Africa’s full potential, helping to build a brighter, more sustainable future for generations to come.

Through these activities, TRRS helped students gain a deeper understanding of Africa’s industrialisation journey, inspiring them to think about how they can contribute to shaping the continent’s future.
