The Roman Ridge School is thrilled to announce an extraordinary achievement in the Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition 2024, themed ‘Our Common Wealth’, organised by the Royal Commonwealth Society (UK).
The Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition (est. 1883) is the world’s oldest and most prestigious international school essay competition with a record-breaking participation of 34,939 pupils worldwide.
Presenting 622 entries, TRRS achieved the highest participation globally, resulting in an impressive tally of 231medals: 129 Bronze, 78 Silver, 20 Gold. Our 4 Gold Medal Finalists are: Klenam Asem (Form 5 West), Maame Afia Agyei (Form 2 Atifi), Ryan Nii Ofori Arday (Form 4 West) and Ivanna Addison (Form 3 East), whose entries were shortlisted for the Overall Global Prize.
The Royal Commonwealth Society (RCS) has confirmed that in the 2024 competition:
1. The Roman Ridge School had the HIGHEST PARTICIPATION OF ANY SCHOOL IN THE COMMONWEALTH
2. The Roman Ridge School had the HIGHEST NUMBER OF MEDALS OF ANY SCHOOL IN AFRICA
3. The Roman Ridge School remains among the TOP PERFORMING SCHOOLS IN THE COMMONWEALTH

On Tuesday 10 December 2024, The Roman Ridge School held a Special Awards Ceremony to celebrate the participants and medal winners of The Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition 2024. We are grateful to our special guests of honour for gracing our ceremony. In attendance were:
