TRRS Form Two Students Mark International Day For The Abolishing Of Slavery With A Moot Court

In commemoration of the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery, our Form Two students staged an exciting Moot Court on 2nd December 2024, exploring the complex historical context of the Anglo-Ashanti Wars and the abolition of the slave trade.

The courtroom drama that unfolded saw the Ashanti Empire, represented by the Asantehene Prempeh I, serving as the Plaintiff, and the British Empire, represented by a British Colonial Official, as the Defendant. Mr. Daniel Dodoo (History Teacher) presided over the case as Judge.

After an impassioned and impressive series of presentations from both sides, the Court delivered its verdict, ruling in favour of the Ashanti Empire.

This Moot Court is a glimpse into how TRRS brings learning to life! Such activities provide our students with creative platforms to extend their learning beyond the classroom and hone their oracy and critical thinking skills.

It was a memorable presentation that served as a powerful reminder of the importance of understanding our own history and the impact of colonialism on African nations.
